SCR Catalyst
Layer Management
Cormetech Catalyst Management services effectively
determine an optimum
catalyst replacement or
addition plan through performance audits that
analyze the remaining potential of the field
catalyst, in conjunction with the operating
history and projected use of the SCR, outage
schedule and other financial and operational
factors. As catalyst layers will deactivate
at different
rates depending
upon the fuel fired, the information dictating
which layer should be replaced will be generated
from our performance audit. This information
may also be potentially applied to other fleet
units considered at the time. During this process
we also evaluate catalyst advancements available
to the customer that may improve the performance
of the unit. Taking advantage of such product
advancements can, in some cases provide more
than a 50% performance enhancement or cost
reduction compared to installing a new layer
of original catalyst.

The primary key to managing
SCR catalysts is to
determine an optimum catalyst replacement or addition
plan.
Catalyst additions are typically the first
option prior to replacement or rejuvenation,
since
in most cases, SCR catalyst systems are
built with
at least one spare layer. Utilization of this
layer is generally the best economic option
for customers versus removing and replacing
or rejuvenating a layer.
